I am a frequent on-line shopper, especially for obtaining items for evaluation for this column. My favorite site is perhaps, AMAZON. They are honest, reliable, trustworthy and helpful. They always strive to provide customer satisfaction!
Recently, I received an email with the official Amazon logo indicating that the products I ordered in April 2026 had been identified as potentially containing materials that do not meet their strict environmental and safety standards. It went on to say that these materials may pose potential health risks with prolonged exposure, or use. I should note that that the letter never named the specific products they referred to. It went on to say that a full refund would be issued to my account in the form of gift cards and the items did not need to be returned. I contacted Amazon and was told that they never sent me such an email and to disregard anything it says. A few days later I received several emails from Amazon saying that a refund had been issued for several items that I said I did not receive. I immediately notified Amazon about this series of emails and told them that I did indeed receive all the items in question. Once again, I was informed that they did not send me these emails and would correct any refunds issued. Since this episode I have spoken with several people who also indicated they too received a similar email notice.
I later noticed that three items had been purchased using the credits on my account and were in the process of being delivered to an out-of-state address unknown to me. Once again, I notified Amazon and indicated that these items were not ordered by me. They immediately suspended delivery so the hacker who then never received delivery. Obviously, Amazon has a shipping address that the hacker provided. Amazon and I then worked on changing my password for my account which became a real challenge, but after several attempts we succeeded.
Evidently the hacker tested this process and then proceeded to place orders using the refund monies posted. Fortunately, I managed to respond to Amazon in a timely manner so the hacker was stopped in his tracks and did not receive any items they had ordered. I do not know if Amazon has apprehended this person yet, but would certainly hope so since they do have the out-of-state shipping address. Amazon is an honest vendor and I’ve been a loyal customer for many years. This illegal action is not a reflection on Amazon at all!
A few days later the hacker tried one more time. This time he somehow signed into my account and changed my password again in hopes I could no longer get into my account. I immediately communicated with Amazon and with their assistance once again reset a new password and then activated two-step verification. Two-step verification requires the person signing in to an account to receive a special one time passcode consisting of a series of numbers that are only valid for a few minutes. It’s sent as a text message to a cell phone number that is on file in your account information with Amazon. This features prevents anyone else from accessing your account and stops them immediately. It requires the texted number Amazon sent to your cellphone to be entered in prior to you having access to signing in to your account with your password. Once accurately completed you’re able to proceed in a normal manner on their site.
I post these scenarios in hopes it will make readers alert and aware to this new illegal scheme. The hacker hopes that you are not aware of what they’re doing and thus allows them to receive merchandise that they’ve never paid for and ultimately take control of your account.
BE AWARE! Always check your emails and accounts with Internet vendors on a regular basis and report any fraudulent activities to the vendor immediately! Enlist in two-step verification! I use two-step verification for numerous other accounts I have that are accessible on line. Let’s stop such fraudulent activity in its tracks, add two-step verification to all your on-line accounts when available!
In conclusion it’s important that you notify the Amazon Fraud Department and report any and all false emails allegedly sent by them to you. You can do this easily by calling them at 888.280.4331, a USA number. When the automated operator answers your call, you need to repeatedly state after each question asked that you want to speak to an “agent in the fraud department”. Eventually the automated system will connect you directly with someone in this department and you can then explain your situation. By the way, you can see the true sender of any email by simply placing the cursor over the sender’s email address at the top of the email and hold down the clicker. This will now reveal the true email address of the sender. When you release the clicker, it will then return to the original address which in all probability is the fake one. If there is no different address shown then naturally the original address is indeed the actual one that the email originated from.

How often have you said, “where did I put my phone”? While designed for men’s belts, the DeBin Phone Holster is the perfect way to protect your expensive phone while having it at the ready for that important call. Yes, even women adapt it to be and extremely useful solution too!
Yes, I have reviewed similar products in past columns, but this one is extremely well built. Its material withstands daily wear-and-tear very well. The clip-on feature works very well for attaching and detaching from your belt eliminating the need to secure with the supplied loops. I found that it mounts so secure to your belt still allowing you to remove and reattach very quickly. Naturally, if you’ll be in a situation where it could easily detach you have the security of the loops which requires removing the belt so you can thread it between the loops. In either application the holster works extremely well, better than most competitive products.
The holster features a flip style protective cover with a strong magnetic locking feature.
The DeBin Phone Holster is a fantastic way to keep and well protect your phone and always have it at your side and at the ready for that important call! Various sizes to fit most manufacturer’s phones are available. (see the link below to select the proper model/style for your phone)

ROMISA KNEE WRAP - Perfect Brace For Knee, Joint & Shoulder Therapy
ROMISA KNEE WRAP – The Perfect Brace For Knee & Joint Therapy & more….

(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
I’ve reviewed competitive wraps in past columns, but I have found the Romisa Knee Wrap to far out perform anything I previously tested and reviewed.
The Romisa Knee Wrap, BOCMH62WPQ, model 1.0, offers heat, message as well as RED LIGHT therapy for your knees, elbows, shoulders and skin care and is designed for use by men and women as well. Compared to other brands it is exceptionally well built and definitely out lasts and performs much better than competitive products. This is especially true when it comes to the internal wiring. I found that competitive models eventually in as little as six months, or less, have broken cable issues caused by breakage, or disconnection of the internal wiring. This is a problem that can not be easily, or inexpensively repaired.
The Romisa Knee Wrap features a cordless rechargeable controller that is exceptionally durable and permanently mounted on the wrap. It features a twenty-minute auto timer and includes a 660nm – 850nm near infrared light therapy treatment that is perfect for treating knee, elbow as well as shoulder pain. The perfect treatment for tired joints and muscles. The dual-wavelength and 10Hz pulse technology with the near infrared light penetrates deeply to help tissues feel revitalized and comfortable and offers five levels of heat. It truly delivers a professional- grade tissue relaxation benefit. It comes with an extension strap for shoulder applications.
The wrap automatically shuts off after twenty minutes of treatment of a safe red light therapy session. I quite often wait a few minutes after it shuts off and then restart for an additional one, or two more treatments.
Its cordless design lends itself for therapy sessions at home, in the office, or on the go with no electrical outlets needed during treatments. The long lasting battery is good for several sessions and includes a visual display of the charge remaining. Charging simply requires the use of a USB C cable and USB charger and only takes a few hours to complete. Since most USB chargers work on 110/220 volts this product will work internationally with no problems! (Be sure to check your USB charger that it supports multi-voltage)
I found the Romisa Knee Wrap to definitely help my knees feel close to normal and relieve the pain related to knee issues. I do suggest using it daily, although I’ve gone several days without treatment and still feel the relief from previous applications. I definitely recommend it without any hesitation!!!

KENY 36" PET/BABY GATE
KENY 36” PET/BABY GATE ~ Wide Auto-Close Gate….

(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
If you own a pet, or have a small child you are probably faced with the dilemma of how to easily and safely keep them out of certain rooms, or areas in your home, or office. Yes, there are many gate solutions out there, but which is the most practical and still easy to install without breaking the bank? KENY makes a 36” extra tall gate that easily mounts in front of stairs and entrances to areas where you want to prevent access. Keny makes these gates available in several different sizes. I’ve tested one that’s 29” - 42.5” wide and 36” tall. So, this review is based on this particular size and cost. Check the web site below for costs and dimensions of other sizes. They all have the same features and function identically and are white in color.
These gates are easy to assemble and install. They come with a narrow extra panel to increase the size slightly and are pressure mounted so, typically, no tools are required.
A simple twist of the adjustment knob tightens it against the entrance jam. This makes it quick and easy to remove if necessary. Naturally, if you want a more permanent installation you can screw in the cup holder in which the round pressure plug fits in to. Even doing this still allows for a fast and easy removal. Note that without the cup holder, the plug simply is pressure fitted against the entranceway jam. No scratches, or paint deterioration will occur.
The gate uses two latches, top and bottom of the top bar, to quickly release and swing the gate 180° in, or out. Two adjustable latches are also provided at the bottom of the gate if you feel that extra prevention of gate opening security is required. This requires a manual adjustment to engage, or release if used. Quite frankly you’ll probably find this feature will not be used. When the gate swings back to its original position it will automatically be latched and closed thus eliminating a manual closing by the person entering, or exiting the area.
Without question the KENY extra tall Pet/Baby gate is a practical and safe solution in preventing access to areas, or rooms.

CES, A/K/A The Consumer Electronics Show with over 4000 exhibitors, took place again at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV from January 6-9. With an attendance of over 1.23 million people, a 16% increase over last year, it was the place where manufacturers, distributors, retailers and the media gathered to show us what the future in technology goodies has in store for us in 2026 and beyond. It certainly left nothing to the imagination! Here are just a few brief highlights of products shown at the CES Show and expected to be introduced and available in the near future:
Roborock Saros Rover: A robot vacuum cleaner with wheel attached legs that unfold when the robot has to climb stairs. The robot’s design allows it to navigate up and down a staircase while stopping at each step to clean it. It’s designed to tilt, crouch and even hop as needed to avoid any obstacles in its way. Roborock has indicated that the product is not available yet, but is still preparing it for a launch in the near future. Price TBA.
Lockin Veno Pro & V7 Max: Smart locks that do not require you to ever recharge/replace their batteries. Instead of using removable batteries this lock’s design uses Lockin AuraCharge, an external device that you plug in from up to 13’ away. The AuraCharge is a transmitter that shoots an invisible light beam to the smart lock thus continuously powering its battery supply. The Lockin Veno Pro is designed as a deadbolt, whereas the V7 Max is a Mortise lock which is less common in the US market. The Pro model is expected to be released this year with a retail of about $350. The V7 Max has dual cameras and will show you who’s at the door, at an anticipated cost of $1000. Availability probably in early Summer.
Robotin R2: Is a robot carpet cleaner that can wash, scrub and dry carpets autonomously. It features a removable vacuum module that can be replaced with a carpet cleaner thus enabling it to perform both vacuuming and carpet washing in a single operation. It is currently in production with price and availability TBA.
Segway Navimow X4:A robot mower that requires no RTK antenna or boundary wire. It uses a combination of cameras, sensors and LiDAR to navigate. Can handle inclines as steep as 84% (40 degrees). Preorders are now being accepted. $2499 - $2999 depending on coverage area size.
Botslab W101 Window Camera: This unique camera easily mounts on a window without any drilling. Features two 2.5K cameras, an outward and inward one. Great for spotting package delivery. Great for apartments, patio doors, or windows. $50, availability TBA.
IXI’S Autofocusing Lenses: These glasses are designed for farsightedness. Combines cameraless eye tracking with liquid crystal lenses that automatically activate when the glasses detect the user’s focus shifting. This eliminates having two prescriptions since they automatically switch between each prescription. The frames are lightweight and look like a pair of normal glasses. Availability and cost TBA.
WheelMove Wheelchair Attachment: A Portable wheelchair attachment that turns any standard wheelchair into an electric one. A portable attachment allows users independence though this battery-powered, remote controlled attachment. Simply attached to the front of any standard wheelchair the device lifts the wheelchair’s smaller front wheels off the ground. Once attached, the rider controls the movement with a basic remote control. The attachment weighs under 20 lbs that includes its 10” wheel, 250 watt motor and a battery that goes about 15 miles. Naturally, carrying an additional battery(s) can extend the range before needing to be recharged. Made in France it’s expected to be available in the US later this year at around $6000.

ENUODA MAGNETIC HOOKS
ENUODA MAGNETIC HOOKS ~ HEAVY DUTY MAGNET HOOK FOR GENERAL HOUSEHOLD USE….

(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
Finding strong hooks that can not only be attached with screws, but also with a magnet,, is a rare and welcome find. ENUODA has made such hooks that are ideal for attaching to almost any surface whether it be magnetic, or with the use of traditional screws. The heavy duty magnetic hooks are ideal for almost any vertical storage space. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, wherever a hook would be the best solution. Each hook can hold 7 – 10 pounds when the magnet is applied to a metal surface. Don’t have a metal surface, but want the benefit of a removable hook, consider using Gauder Metal Self Adhesive Tape. This is a metal tape that sticks to most surfaces and provides the benefit of accommodating anything magnetic including these hooks. https://shorturl.at/QodTY Each hook is embedded with six super strong rare earth magnets that are housed in a 2.59 inch round base, providing a strong grip when hanging virtually anything. They are made of heavy-duty steel and have a load-bearing capacity of 10 pounds. Each magnet is coated in rubber and thus prevents the marring, or scratching of the attached surface. This type of construction gives them a better grip thus preventing them from falling, or being easily scratched. They’re even strong enough to provide a grip for open and closing cabinet doors.
I found these hooks to be the best hooks for so many applications. The fact that they can be magnetically attached, or screw mounted, makes them so versatile. I have them attached to the side of a metal file cabinet and use them to hang my CPAP hoses and mask after cleaning so they can dry and air out. They are perfect for storing tools, drills and even some ladders too. Additional sizes and styles are available too. I rate them A+. A great solution for so many applications!!! Screws and ribbed plastic anchors are also included.

Seemagic Electric Nail Clipper
Seemagic Electric Nail Clipper ~
For Baby, Kids, Seniors And Adults

CORRESPONDENT
(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
Trimming your nails can be a tedious and perhaps not so accurate job when you use ordinary scissors or nail clippers. Seemagic has a gadget that makes it super easy. It’s compact and easily held in your hand. The electric nail clipper comes with a non-replaceable, but rechargeable battery power supply. Simply use the USB-C supplied charging cable and plug it into a standard USB charger/adapter, not supplied. Charging takes about 2 hours to be fully charged. It’s a good idea to charge the unit before your first use. Once fully charged you’re good to go for many trims.
To trim your nails, position the trimmer with the Seemagic name facing upward. Now remove the plastic cover that allows access to the trimmer blade. To turn on the trimmer press and hold in the power button located on the right side panel adjacent to the type C USB port until you see a white light illuminated over the trimmer. At this point place a finger over the thumb print logo located over the embossed Seemagic name on the top of the trimmer. If your finger is not clean you may have to switch fingers, or wipe clean the button till proper contact is made and the clipper is activated. You should now hear the trimmer’s motor. Leave your finger in place while trimming is taking place. If you don’t hear the motor noise it means that the finger you are using is probably greasy, so either wipe it clean, or try a different finger until you hear the trimmer’s motor. You’re now ready to begin trimming your nails. Gently insert one side of the nail to be trimmed into the blade’s slot opening. Use only a slight pressure and move the trimmer, or your nail from one end of the nail to the other. Continue this process until you achieve the desired nail trimming. Maintaining a constant, but slight pressure prevents trimming the nail too much. Repeat this operation until the desired trim is achieved then proceed to the next nail until all nails are satisfactorily trimmed to your liking. The trimmer may possibly be used on toes, but based on the typical unusual contour of toes it may be difficult, or not easily achievable. To shut off the trimmer just press the power on/off button till light and motor noise cease. Pressing of the thumb print is not required for the shutdown of the trimmer.
After continued use you will see the nail residue build up in the cavity at the bottom of the trimmer. To empty, just push the top of the clear plastic door inward as indicted by the word PUSH. Once emptied just press the rear of the door back down till you hear a click. A cleaning brush is included for cleaning the blade slot. Cleaning should be performed when trimmed debris becomes visible.
I found the SeeMagic Nail Clipper to work exceptionally well in most applications.
MSRP: $24.90

Dewenwils AC Power Remote Control - great for controlling Holiday Decorations
DEWENWILS AC POWER REMOTE CONTROL ~ Easily Control Your Electrical Devices Within 100’ ….

Have you ever wanted to have a switch for an electrical device in a new location, or be somewhat mobile, or just simply more convenient to access? Well, DEWENEILS may just have the solution.
The DEWENWILS Outdoor Wireless Remote-Control Outlet is a device that features what looks like a 2-foot extension cord having a standard three-prong male AC ground plug on one end and a three-prong female outlet built into a waterproof housing on the other. Since this electrical device is entirely waterproof it can be used both outdoors and indoors. The remote control on/off switch can turn electrical devices on or off up to 100’ away. It can accommodate up to 15 amps/1875 Resistance/1000-watt tungsten and up to ½ horse power motors at 115 volts. It therefore is perfect for remotely turning on/off string lights, holiday decorations, landscape lighting fixtures, security devices, room lights and appliances with just a push of the button on the supplied remote control.
The DEWENWILS remote control device comes complete with the popular CR2032 button battery. It’s easy to install too. Simply plug it into a standard ground plug outlet that is near the device you wish to control, then plug in your device and the installation is now complete. To operate, just press the appropriate on or off button on the remote control to now control the device’s mode of operation. Incidentally, there is also an on/off manual switch located atop the outlet housing should you wish to control it from its actual location.
These types of remotes use a control signal to transmit the commands from the remote to the outlet’s receiver. This inaudible signal utilizes a specific assigned frequency. If you plan to use multiple control devices that you wish to individually control It’s important to know what frequency(s) you are already using on one or more remote controls and order one with a different frequency from any devices already in use. Check the packaging for the frequency already being used and then alert the vendor with this information so you will have a completely independent operational device.
I found the DEWENWILS remote control device very handy for several applications. I have a light in the master bedroom that I can now turn on by the entrance door. I have another light on a living room bar and on the wall that’s now controllable from the couch. (Note: A multi-outlet adapter is used for this particular application.) My wife has a lamp several feet from a bed which she can now control while in bed. Since each switch is on a different frequency the operation of any and all remote do not interfere with each other. Without question the DEWENILS REMOTE CONTROL is convenient, requires no electrician or special wiring!
GADGETEER’s RATING: ★★★★★
MSRP: $13.99 or with 2 remotes $18.99 (Two & three outlet models are also available)

Do you have Neuropathy, or other painful foot conditions and haven’t found any resource to relieve it? Well, Allyouger may have just the solution. I’ve been testing the Allyounger’s Shiatsu foot massager and the results are amazing! Designed with input from over 500 physical therapists, it’s unique deep kneading and 6D compression technology accurately targets various specific acupoints, enhancing foot massage comfort by better than 50% resulting in pain relief and improved blood circulation.
The massager incorporates an internal airbag that surrounds your feet and incorporates kneading, air compression, heating and vibration stimulation with four massage modes, five intensity levels and two temperature settings. These features are easily adjusted to your desired liking by the included remote control. The unique remote storage slot built into the main frame prevents the remote from easily being lost or misplaced. The wireless remote’s adjustments allow for setting the heat’s temperature to between 104° and 113° F, the vibration strength, amount of air compression and kneading and are displayed on a smart touch panel.

APPLE AIRTAG 10-YEAR BATTERY CASE
ELEVATION LAB AIRTAG 10-YEAR BATTERY CASE ~ An Air Tag Case With Long Life Replaceable Batteries….
BOB SKIDMORE,
CORRESPONDENT - © 2025
(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
The introduction of Apple’s AIRTAG is a major step in keeping track of your belongings such as keys, purses, suitcases and especially automobiles. If you have one you already know that it’s a round device about the size of a quarter and by removing the silver cover you can easily replace the CR2032 button battery.
Elevation Lab has developed and introduced a unique and practical case that houses the electronic portion of the AirTag and gives it an up to a ten year battery life span and thus does not have the appearance of an AirTag. The case itself is waterproof featuring an ultra-strong fiber reinforced composite construction and its look is not easily identifiable by any would-be thief. Yes, it’s a bit larger, 4.45” long x 1.57” wide x 0.57” thick, so it can accommodate two commonly available AA batteries and is held in place by 4 hex screws with a special wrench supplied with the kit.
The Elevation Lab case easily tucks away in your purse, or suitcase and fits well in the pouch located in the rear backside portion of the front passenger seat of your car. Since you permanently remove the AirTag’s cover you no longer have to deal with having to remove it since the button battery is no longer being used. This always became quite a task especially as the AirTags aged which resulted in difficulty to open and close the round housing’s silver cover. Replacement of the two AA batteries is very easy. It would be advisable to check these two batteries every couple of years for possible corrosion even though the manufacturer claims a ten year battery life span.
Using AirTags in your car is a very practical use. Since you can easily track the location on your iPhone, computer, or iPad, law enforcement will have a much easier job to locate your car and probably the thieves as well. I highly recommend the Elevation Lab case and, of course, the use of APPLE AIRTAGS.
MSRP: $19.99 (2 & 4 packs available at reduced costs)

CAREGIVER FULLHOUSE WIRELESS CALL BUTTON
CAREGIVER FULLHOUSE WIRELESS CALL BUTTON ~ Easily Call For Help In Your Home….

(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
How many times have you wished that there was a simple way to signal others within your home, apartment, or condo unit that you need help, or assistance? Perhaps you fell, or are simply in some other way incapacitated. The CAREGIVER FULLHOUSE WIRELESS CALL BUTTON is a great practical solution. Yes, the name implies caregiver, but this solution applies to anyone living in virtually any kind of residence. The operational range can be up to 1000 feet in an open air environment from the transmitter to 500 feet if there are walls. The system is waterproof, but not submersible. Once installed, the way it works is you have what I’ll call a remote panic button that you can keep in a place where it will be in easy reach should you need to alert someone that you have an issue. A receiver plugs into a standard wall outlet and contains a loud chime, or other selectable sound. So, when the panic button on the remote is depressed it sounds a two second loud sound. Naturally, you can repeat this if necessary, or by holding the button down for more than five seconds the system goes into the emergency call mode unless you press the volume/music button on the receiver to stop the alarm. When the emergency call mode is activated the alarm will sound continuously for 20 minutes unless you shut it off. You can of course repeat this for additional 20 minute periods if necessary. It may also be possible to place a receiver in an apartment above, or below you, or a house next door. You’ll want to test this out to ensure that the signal reaches a receiver placed in such a neighbor’s location. It is possible to personalize the system to allow for each transmitter to have a different tone so a person responding will know where to look for the person in need. Such settings are clearly explained in the instructions provided with the unit. This system is available in various bundles: 1 call button + 1 plug-in receiver $17.99; 2 call buttons + 1 plug-in receiver $21.95; 2 call buttons + 3 plug-in receivers $35.00; 2 call buttons + 4 plug-in receivers $43.19 and 3 call buttons + 2 plug-in receivers $32.39. To sum up, this is a very reliable system for summoning help. Be sure to routinely replace batteries in each call button. Perhaps add a label with the date when last replaced to ensure proper operation when you need it.
MSRP: Depends on bundle purchased. See above for available bundles.

This may be a bit off the typical gadget articles I write, but it’s very important information regarding the possible aftermath of having necessary Cataract surgery. Understand that while you’re reading this that I’m not a Medical professional, but highlighting my own experience and newly found knowledge.
Cataract surgery is a clouding of the natural lens in your eye that you are born with. This lens is normally clear. When clouding occurs, it keeps light rays from passing through the lens and focusing on the retina. The retina is a thin layer of nerve tissue that lines the inside of the back of the eye and is sensitive to light. Cataracts become more of a noticeable nuisance as we get older, typically after the age of 40. When they start to appear, they are the result of the proteins in the lens of your eye breaking down and clumping together. This clump makes a cloudy area on your lens and is known as a cataract. It result in blurry, hazy, or less colorful vision. Again, most cataracts happen due to natural changes in your eyes as we get older. The typical medical remedy for cataracts is surgery resulting in a procedure to remove the lens of the eye and, in most cases, replace it with an artificial lens. While this procedure is an immediate remedy it may not be the final end to your problem.
I had Cataract surgery a couple of years ago and thought this issue was behind me only to learn that a YAG LASER CAPSULOTOMY was now necessary in one eye. Yag Laser Capsulotomy is a procedure to help you to see clearly after you’ve had Cataract surgery. You may need this type of surgery because months, or even years after Cataract surgery, your vision may get fuzzy again. This happens when a membrane in your eye, known as the posterior capsule, becomes cloudy. Unfortunately, since this issue, while common, only happens in some cases, you may not be advised of such a possible reoccurrence after your Cataract surgery. The procedure takes less than a minute and does not require all the pre/post preparation and care that Cataract surgery does. It also may only happen in one of your eyes, and yes, I know of a recent case where it happened days after the original Cataract surgery.
So, I hope this was informative and you never need to have this done!

iPHONE FOR DUMMIES 2025 ~ The Missing Manual They Did Not Include
iPHONE FOR DUMMIES 2025 ~ Your iPhone 16 User Manual That Was Missing When You Bought Your Phone....

It seems that products you purchase these days no longer include an adequate USER MANUAL. Some products include what appears to be a very basic product spec sheet, but no actual manual and Apple is no exception. So, here’s where the latest edition of “Dummies books” solves the problem.
iPHONE FOR DUMMIES ~ 2025, written by Guy Hart - Davis, a previous Dummies book series, author, has come to the rescue. I’ve read other publications on this topic for this article and none come even close to the in-depth, easy-to-understand, iPHONE FOR DUMMIES ~ 2025 manual! First, let me make clear that the use of the word “DUMMIES” does not imply that you are a “dummy”! Quite the contrary, after all you made the purchase of an exceptional iPhone product!
iPHONE FOR DUMMIES, 2025 EDITION, covers the iPhone basics, as well as the specific features of iPhone 16 and some earlier models. It also teaches you how to set up your phone and how to navigate the latest iOS. It includes detailed feature explanations to aid you in making phone and FaceTime calls, send texts, get online, play games, shoot video and many, many other amazing things your smartphone can do that you probably did not know. What’s also very useful and handy for quick reference is the detailed index at the back of the book, something that’s lacking in many competitive publications. Here you can quickly be directed to a page(s) and chapters that will answer specific issues that you need answers to. Topics like sending texts by emergency SOS via satellite (page 178). Detailed explanations on calling features are highlighted in Chapter 7 (page 127). The one I really appreciate is how you can easily make conference calls and all the special features available within this conference call feature. Did you know that depending on your carrier you may be able to conference as many as five to ten people typically? That’s what I mean, this book is chocked full of numerous informative features that can truly benefit your iPhone experience. A must have and true reference that every iPhone user will appreciate and will definitely want to keep on their desk for quick review! It truly will become your iPhone reference book manual that pays for itself many times over!

Cutting pizza slices can be quite messy. It doesn’t matter if you ordered a pizza from a pizzeria, prepared one from scratch, or bake a frozen one, cutting slices can be a real messy chore. Loftern has made the cutting task very easy with their Non-Stick Pizza Scissors. Its safe design incorporates a sharp blade that makes for sturdy and reliable use. It incorporates a non-slip grip with a strong spring action handle. It is food grade and dishwasher safe and includes a non-stick base.
It features a 5” cutting profile that can easily slice through bread, herbs, wraps, bagels, meat and many other foods besides pizza. It’s also perfect for cutting fruit and vegetables. The LOFTERN PIZZA CUTTER is made of premium food grade stainless steel that’s designed to cut through the thickest crusts with ease and no mess.
I’ve tested similar scissor pizza cutters by various competitors and they simply do not measure up to this one. Some that I tested had the plastic handle break. Repeated applications of Super Glue did not help. Other models also were quite difficult to position for a proper pizza slice. Interestingly enough I was first introduced to this concept on a trip to Sweden. That model also failed the durability and use tests that I subjected it to. I highly recommend the LOFTERN PIZZA CUTTER! You’ll not be disappointed!!! Enjoy your PIZZA!

It seems that every day we receive more bogus emails, and now more recently, text messages, advising us that we owe money for services, and/or fines. Probably 99% of these are spam hoping that you will fall for their pitches and give up private information such as your credit, or debit card account details. Be advised that true official notifications such as I’ve described generally come by mail, or post in official envelopes and not by email, or texts. Also, official, real notifications come on official letterhead with the agency’s actual address and phone number which you can easily verify. You can verify the true sender of an email by putting your computer’s cursor over the sender’s info and clicking on it. You will now see the actual sender’s email address which will reveal that it’s probably fake. It will become obvious that this address bears no resemblance to an entity that the email claims to be from. In fact, many such phony addresses show up as being sent from foreign countries as indicated by the use of two-letter country ids. (DE-Germany; GB-UK; KR-So Korea) A current popular spam email claims to advise you that your Apple storage is full putting you at risk of all your photos and important data being erased.
So, verify the sender’s true email address as shown below:
These fraudsters are now reverting to the use of text messages to imply the same false information. They pose as agencies advising you that you have toll fines, or unpaid tickets and if not paid at once you will lose your driver’s license, in addition to being fined, etc. Once again, no official information such as vehicle type, license plate, state, city, or county information and date of violation is provided. Even your name and address are missing as is the location where the alleged violation took place. So, bottom line, verify such notices by contacting the official agency and not any agency information, email addresses, or phone numbers listed on the email, or text. Don’t be a sucker!!!

(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
THE HOT HOLDER is a multi-purpose device available in several configurations depending on your use. It was originally designed to aid technicians that repair various electronic equipment. However, it soon became a tool used for many different purposes. One such purpose is in the jewelry business. Applications here range from an easy way to mount items for cleaning and/or repair, or soldering. While not originally designed with this in mind it certainly demonstrates how versatile THE HOT HOLDER has become. Let’s look at the original purpose which was as a soldering tool to aid technicians in working with circuit boards. Such tasks involve the need to position a circuit board, or component, such as a plug, jack or other item so it can easily be soldered. In this application I loaned a couple of sample HOT HOLDERS to CRS COMPUTER REPAIR SYSTEMS in Clearwater Florida for their testing and results. So, the comments expressed below are a result of their use and experience in repairing computer circuit boards, etc.
CRS found THE HOT HOLDER to be a great little tool assistant for holding items in place for inspection, and/or solder repairs. This tool has a small, but solid gel like base that has numerous convenient cutouts allowing you to set components and tools like picks and tweezers in them for easy access while actively working on a printed circuit board and soldering, or troubleshooting a failure point. It allows you to keep a hand free from having to hold what you’re working on. The unit does not get hot while working on items which is a big plus preventing burnt fingers, etc. The base is hard and flexible with a slot that you can put a pc board into that gets held tightly in position to easily be worked on. It is great for troubleshooting printed circuit boards, or power supplies. However, large boards are generally too big for the models tested and CRS suggest that larger models be considered and offered. It works very well with miscellaneous household items too. Bottom line, it’s light weight, easy to work with, has plenty of spots to hold tools while working, heat resistant and has a gel surface that is anti-slip. In short, a great tool that helps keep one’s hands free easily making for a replacement of a third hand and therefor an awesome tool to use for many purposes including non electronic!

The annual Consumer Electronics Show, CES, was another huge success. As always CES introduces new technology products that may soon hit the market place, or for lack of appeal will never see the light of day. More than 4312 exhibitors, 1400 startups and 5355 media were in attendance for this three day event. 138739 participants, including 40% international attendees from 161 countries made up the attendance participants list. Here are just a few of the interesting and unusual products that were displayed:
The Swippitt might look like your toaster, but its slot is actually for insertion of your smartphoneT for charging. It will automatically swap out a dead external battery integrated into a custom case with a new one. Each swappable battery has a 3500mAH capacity that provides an additional 50-90 percent charge depending on the size of the smartphone. This product could result in never having to plug in your phone again, but you’ll pay a substantial price, $450 for the hub with 5 extra batteries and $120 for the phone case with a battery included.
Anchor showed a unique Umbrella solar panel as an effective solution to charge your various electronic devices. The 7 foot tall Solix Solar Beach Umbrella can generate up to 100W of power output that can be used to charge phones, tablets or coolers through USB-C and XT-600 connections. Available later this year and pricing has yet to be announced.
The Roborock’s new Saro Z70 is a solution to cleaning around random objects left lying on the ground. It features an articulated five-axis robot arm called OmniGrip that can move such obstacles out of its way. Available June 2025. Cost to be announced.
And here’s only a concept to show what’s possible. Lenovo showed off its ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable PC, a dual-screen laptop that extends the screen upward rather than folding it, or, fold two screens together. Applications could include being able to extend a screen a few inches with a simple press of a button. A good example of how CES is used to promote a concept and get reactions and input for a possible future product….
So, these are just a few very unique items on display at this year’s CES show.

MACALLY KEYBOARD & MAC AND PC
MACALLY KEYBOARD FOR

An Illuminated Keyboard With Shortcut Keys….

(Please note that Google’s BlogSpot, the provider we use to publish this monthly column, has changed the allowable format style. So, if the column’s format looks a bit strange it’s due to Google and BlogSpot, not THE GADGETEER.)
Every computer user is naturally accustomed to the standard keyboard for their tabletop Mac, laptop, or PC computer. I recently tested the MACALLY BACKLIT WIRED KEYBOARD FOR MAC, model BLSLIMKEYPROA, that’s a compatible Apple keyboard with a numeric side keyboard that works very well with MacBook Pro/Air, iMac and many older models that connect via USB. When using with a MAC, OS X 10.6 to 11 and above is required. Naturally, USB connectivity is also needed. It can work with PC’s, however some of the shortcut keys may not function as desired on a PC. Naturally, there are similar models made for PC’s by Logitech and many off-brand companies as well with various features that are designed specifically for PC use, that I have not tested for this review. It should be noted that the Macally model referenced in this review is really designed with MAC computers in mind, but, as mentioned by the manufacturer, can function on a PC.
The MAC Macally keyboard is equipped with the normal 107-key MacOS layout and features 16 Apple Shortcut keys. They all feature crisp white LED lit keys for all functions with three brightness settings that provide excellent visibility in all room lighting situations. A five foot USB-A cable provides a reliable plug and play connectivity solution that works every time. Its very thin design, 0.86”, with an integrated, non-adjustable, kickstand helps to alleviate wrist strain. Three tally lights indicate that the FN , CAPS LOCK & POWER features are engaged. FN controls dual functions of function keys. The silver faceplate with white accents match the minimalistic feel and look of most Apple computers. Letters, numbers and symbols are all backlit and feature crisp white keys making it especially handy to view in darkly lit rooms.
A space gray model with black keys is also available. Illumination also has three brightness adjustments that are part of the keyboard’s 16 upper shortcut selections
I find this keyboard design with backlit keyboard to work extremely well. MACALLY should publish a chart as a quick reference that shows the location and function of all shortcut keys. Currently you can locate such information in their user manual ( https://shorturl.at/v9noN ). A chart would certainly make things a lot easier for the user.
It’s the perfect addition to your computer for everyday use, video editing, personal, education and business applications as well! I like it so much that I’ve added a second keyboard to my other computer, a stationary MacBook Pro, that’s also in my office.
