If you own a pet, or have a small child you are probably faced with the dilemma of how to easily and safely keep them out of certain rooms, or areas in your home, or office. Yes, there are many gate solutions out there, but which is the most practical and still easy to install without breaking the bank? KENY makes a 36” extra tall gate that easily mounts in front of stairs and entrances to areas where you want to prevent access. Keny makes these gates available in several different sizes. I’ve tested one that’s 29” - 42.5” wide and 36” tall. So, this review is based on this particular size and cost. Check the web site below for costs and dimensions of other sizes. They all have the same features and function identically and are white in color.
These gates are easy to assemble and install. They come with a narrow extra panel to increase the size slightly and are pressure mounted so, typically, no tools are required.
A simple twist of the adjustment knob tightens it against the entrance jam. This makes it quick and easy to remove if necessary. Naturally, if you want a more permanent installation you can screw in the cup holder in which the round pressure plug fits in to. Even doing this still allows for a fast and easy removal. Note that without the cup holder, the plug simply is pressure fitted against the entranceway jam. No scratches, or paint deterioration will occur.
The gate uses two latches, top and bottom of the top bar, to quickly release and swing the gate 180° in, or out. Two adjustable latches are also provided at the bottom of the gate if you feel that extra prevention of gate opening security is required. This requires a manual adjustment to engage, or release if used. Quite frankly you’ll probably find this feature will not be used. When the gate swings back to its original position it will automatically be latched and closed thus eliminating a manual closing by the person entering, or exiting the area.
Without question the KENY extra tall Pet/Baby gate is a practical and safe solution in preventing access to areas, or rooms.
