In a previous column I reviewed the TASCAM CD-A580, an all-in-one deck that converts your CD’s, audiocassettes and even vinyl to the MPG3 format and than on to a flash drive or other digital storage media. As promised, here are a couple of ways to easily access and listen to your recently converted music library.

If you intent is to replace that old CD player or changer that’s part of your stereo system, the AGPtek H3 may be just the solution. This device is housed in a Zinc alloy shell about the physical size of a pack of cigarettes at half its thickness.

It accommodates micro SD cards available in sizes from 16gb to 256gb, although the supplied 32gb card is probably all you’ll need. That can translate to thousands of musical selections at your immediate disposal. These micro SD cards easily fit into adapters allowing the micro SD to fit into a standard SD slot on your computer or reader. The AGPtek H3 itself requires no adapter to be used since it accepts the micro SD directly. The purpose of the adapter would be in transferring the music selections that were originally transferred on the TASCAM and are presumably now stored in a folder on your computer. Many micro SD cards are supplied with an adapter as part of the package.

The AGPtek H3 has a multitude list of features: (1) Power button/screen on-off; (2) 2 inch Display screen; (3) Scroll wheel to select menu items; (4) A button that executes the desired items such as start and pause; (5/6) Buttons allowing you to select menu items, switch to previous or next song and fast reverse or forward during music playing; (7) M Button ~ Menu on “all songs” playlist interface, long press quickly searches the target song; (8) This button ~ Go back – on any other interfaces, long press button, or return to the main interface; (9) Power indicator light; (10/11) Volume up & down; (12) Micro SD slot; (13) Earphone jack; (14) USB Charging port; (15) Line-out jack. The aux out jack is what allows you to interface with your home or car stereo system. Also included is a  (Bi-directional), Bluetooth 4.0 transmission capability.

The AGPtek H3 is a very well made and feature packed player. It can easily serve as a main audio source in your home stereo system, or due to its compact size, meet your on-the-go needs as well. It’s powered by an internal rechargeable Lithium battery that uses a standard 5V/500ma~1000ma charger, not included.

If all you need is portability, the AGPtek M28 could be your perfect choice.

It is constructed out of the same Zinc alloy material as the H3, has 16gb’s of internal storage, accepts micro SD cards up to 128gb and has similar features of the H3, but does not include an aux output. NOTE: The earphone output works well with headsets, but is not designed to feed a stereo system.  It supports FM Radio, voice recording, E-book reading and video. Video formats, AMV, AVI (160*128) require a video converter tool. Headphones and adjustable jogging armband are included. Typical music playback offers a rechargeable Lithium battery life of 25–30 hours and takes only 2.5 hours to fully recharge.

(TIP: In a past column I featured the JBL Flips, models 2 and 3. These, Bluetooth capable, portable stereo speaker/amplifiers would be a perfect match for on-the-go playback with the AGPtek H3, or even the M28. They are powered by an internal rechargeable battery, or AC house current. https://bit.ly/2iDQYHy )

(TIP: IMPORTANT ~ All prerecorded music is copyrighted. Transferring your obsolete collection that you own to a digital flash drive for your own personal, non-commercial, use is not considered a violation. Distributing this in any form, or selling any or all of the content can result in prosecution under federal and international copyright laws.)

MSRP: AGPtek H3 $139.99 ~ AGPtek M28 $39.99
